Application Tips
How AFA Scores Your Application
AFA's application review uses a weighted scoring system. Here is how much each portion of the application counts against your final score for AFA Leaders Conference, scholarships, and AFA Leader Institutes. The reviewer will know your school year, but that's it. Scholarship interviews are scored by the reviewer. All other factors are automatically scored by a formula.
Application Tips
Ensure you are within the AFA eligibility requirements before applying.
Share up-to-date school information (class status, graduation date, major). If you've filled out an application on our site before, it will pre-populate your information. If you've changed your major or switched schools, we want to know that.
Fill in as much as you can for intern and work experience. Every experience counts during the selection process. Scoring is done based on the information entered into the form, those who maximize opportunities to tell us about yourself will be more competitive in the selection process.
The “Organizational Involvement” section and “Community Service” section are completely filled in. Every experience counts during the selection process. See above.
Grammar, spelling and punctuation are part of the scoring criteria.
If your internet connection times out while you are on a page, you will lose any new information that you've entered on that page since your last save.
